Do you want to enjoy a dish full of color, textures, and aromas? This Cuban-style fried rice combines meats, seafood, egg, and fresh vegetables, all brought together with a Creole touch that makes it irresistible. Perfect to surprise on any special occasion.
🥘 Ingredients
- 1 pound of rice (cooked from the previous day, without salt and loosened)
- ½ pound of pork (roasted or fried, in small cubes)
- ¾ pound of ham (in thin strips)
- ½ pound of medium shrimp (cleaned, without tail, and cut into pieces)
- 6 eggs
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger (grated)
- 2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
- Fresh bean sprouts
- 1 bunch of chives (finely chopped)
- Regular soy sauce (for seasoning and salt)
- 1 teaspoon of double dark soy sauce (for color)
- 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon of white pepper
👨🍳 How to prepare this dish
1. Make the egg omelets
Heat a little olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Beat one or two eggs, pour them in, and spread them so they’re thin. Cook on both sides and remove. Repeat until all eggs are done. Cut the omelets into thin strips and set aside.
2. Sauté the meats
In the same skillet, add sesame oil and sauté the pork along with the ham until golden. Remove and set aside on a separate plate.
3. Cook the shrimp
Add a little more olive oil, incorporate the shrimp, and sauté until they change color. Add a touch of ginger and white pepper, mix well, and remove.
4. Fry the rice
Pour the remaining sesame and olive oil into the skillet. Sauté the garlic to extract its aroma and flavor, remove it, add the ginger, and mix. Add the rice and stir constantly so it fries evenly.
5. Incorporate sauces and vegetables
Add the double dark soy sauce for color, then the regular one for seasoning. Add the chopped chives, mix well, and adjust the salt level with soy sauce. Incorporate the egg strips, pork, ham, and shrimp. Finally, add the bean sprouts.
6. Serve
Mix everything with folding motions, taste, and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately to enjoy it hot and freshly made.
