🍤 Cuban Shrimp Pizza – Seafood Flavor with a Creole Touch

This Cuban-style shrimp pizza combines a soft homemade crust with an aromatic seafood topping, melted cheese, and dried herbs. For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of warm water

  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

For the topping:

  • ½ pound of raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Grated mozzarella, gouda, or patagrás cheese
  • ½ cup of pasta sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Dried oregano (powdered)

👩‍🍳 Step-by-step preparation

1. Activate the yeast

In the warm water, dissolve the sugar together with the yeast. Mix well and let it rest for about 10 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface.

2. Prepare the dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour with the salt and sift it. Add the olive oil and then gradually pour in the yeast mixture. Knead for about 10 minutes until you obtain a smooth and workable dough. Place the dough in a greased container, cover it with plastic wrap and a cloth, and let it rest for 2 hours, until it doubles in size.

3. Shape the bases

Once the dough has risen, gently press it to remove the air. Place it on a lightly floured surface and work it with soft movements. Divide it into 4 equal portions, form balls, and stretch them with your hands or a rolling pin until they fit the size of the previously greased pans.


🦐 Preparing the topping

While the dough rests, place the shrimp in a bowl and mix them with the chopped garlic, a pinch of oregano, and a drizzle of olive oil. Set aside.

On each pizza base, spread the sauce using a spoon. Add a little Parmesan cheese to enhance the flavor. Distribute the shrimp evenly and cover them with the mozzarella, gouda, or patagrás cheese. Finish by sprinkling dried basil on top.


🔥 Baking

Preheat the oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Place the pizzas in the oven and bake for about 12 minutes. Check that the cheese is completely melted, the shrimp have turned a bright pink color, and the edges are golden. If necessary, leave them in the oven for 2 additional minutes.
